Call for Applications:
Art & Architectural Journalism Workshop Series
We are pleased to invite applications for a workshop series on Art and Architectural Journalism, developed for participants interested in critical writing, documentation, and visual storytelling within art, design, and architecture. This programme offers a unique opportunity to strengthen critical writing and documentation skills while contributing to a collective publication.
Part of our Kraftor 101 series, this workshop programme explores the intersection of writing, photography, and archiving through the lens of art and architectural journalism. It seeks to cultivate a community of thoughtful writers and documentarians capable of capturing, interpreting, and sharing our local art, architecture, and disappearing histories.
The programme’s objectives are to reinforce participants' ability to write clearly, critically, and accessibly about art and architecture, document spaces and artworks through photography and digital media, and explore how visual and written forms can be combined to create compelling, layered narratives. Participants will also be guided in preparing their work for publication, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to our own platform and other arts and culture publications.
At its core, the programme seeks to strengthen local capacity for creative documentation, ensuring that our stories, spaces, and cultural heritage are recorded and shared with accuracy, depth, and creativity.
This programme will run across March and May 2026 and requires full commitment from selected participants.
Note that the in-person sessions will take place within Kampala, Uganda.
